founder of Camillo MonoCultivar

I set up "Camillo MonoCultivar" to bring to the UK the EV Olive Oil produced my family.

We are from San Severo, a medieval agricultural town in the South East of Italy, right in the middle of a fertile flat land that has produced Olive Oil since the beginning of history and that the Romans named ''Daunia, the Granary of Italy''.

The Camillos have produced EVOO for many generations and it "runs in our veins".
When my grandfather Luigi Camillo died prematurely during WW2, my grandmother Filomena took over the management of the family grove and, during the austere after-war period, the small-hold grove became invaluable to sustain her family.

My father Antonio took on the management of the family grove as a young man, acquired more land and planted more trees over the years, and manages his land according to traditional local wisdom and some bio-dynamic principles.
The amount of Olive Oil produced by his small-hold is limited but he is very proud of the quality he achieves as his main objective has always been to produce the very best possible EVOO for his family and for a few friends.

We call our Extra Virgin Olive Oil "MonoCultivar" because, while most other Olive Oils are blends, we extract our Olive Oil exclusively from a single olive variety called locally "Peranzana" that is very rich in antioxidants and that, according to popular wisdom, makes the best Olive Oil in town.

My brother Marco also got the olive oil bug and, as soon as he graduated, he dedicated himself to agriculture.
Marco today is the manager of the local frantoio (olive oil mill) and he personally controls all production processes.

Traditionally, Southern Italian families purchase fresh EVOO once a year (just before Christmas) from a trusted supplier and, the experience that my family has gained over several generations and the strong links that I have with my homeland, are a great inspiration and motivation for me to keep the best traditions of this type alive.

It is not easy for small-hold farmers to bring their finest produce to the international markets and Camillo MonoCultivar's Mission is to do just that; not only for crops produced by the Camillo family but also for quality crops produced by other small-hold farmers in our region.
